The things you should know about BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and BlackBerry Internet Services (BIS) in Russia

If you are going to travel to Russia and using BlackBerry smartphone, you should know some important things.

1. BlackBerry Services (BIS) in Russia are carried by MTS, Beeline and Megafon. You can either connect BIS in our office for temporary usage during your tour to Russia or use you home SIM-card in roaming mode (be sure you carrier offers BIS in Russia).
2. BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), and Wi-Fi for BlackBerry are restricted in Russia. That means if you’ll buy SIM-card in carrier’s office in Russia, and connect BIS service, the only function will work on your BlackBerry is Email. BBM and Wi-Fi will be permanently blocked on your device. The same is for buying BlackBerry in carrier’s store — you’ll buy a device with BBM and Wi-Fi blocked. Possible solutions for BBM and Wi-Fi are:
1. Bring your own BlackBerry and own SIM-card with BIS-attached (be sure you carrier offers BIS in Russia). Note, BlackBerry 10 devices do not need BIS for BBM in Russia, as in your home country also.
2. Take free SIM-card with BIS attached in our office in Moscow. Highlights: pay-as-you-go for calls and SMS; unlimited BBM, Email, Browser and other Internet traffic all over the Russia for $10 per month only.
3. Buy BlackBerry 7 or BlackBerry 10 device in our store and all BlackBerry functions will work with it.
4. If you have BlackBerry with blocked BBM or Wi-Fi already, we can unlock it, and even hard-locked devices (after this service BBM and Wi-Fi will both work). No matter if others can’t help you — we can. We can also unlock device from carrier, including “0 tries” devices.
3. BlackBerry 10 devices are not selling in Russia, but you can still buy these in our store.
